SURPRISE!!!!!

Hey guys-
I just knew that we were not going to do as much as last year. God said "Surprise"!!
Our relay center did more than last year and that is remarkable! We will soon get a Roadway Truck...I hope. However we did get a UPS TRUCK to take all of the cartons all 2981 shoeboxes over to North Trenholm.
Thanks to all that do such a great job all year around! Please, please, please consider going to the conference in March 12-14. It will change your life! More than OCC does now!
Praying for more boxes.....we had a drop and dash at church another 20 boxes!

Merry Christmas!!!

Hey guys...Merry Christmas!

I wanted to share with you guys that I went to a Catholic Youth Group and encouraged them with the project. It was cool...these kids were HS kids. Some took some brochures to take to school and share with friends and they came up with a having a party...so I am praying for more than 38 boxes from this group.
Now they had gotten shoeboxes from USC basketball team. So these were big shoeboxes- size 15 + shoeboxes. I just explained, but to pack them and have fun. I want them to understand later that it is not about what goes in the box but the message that goes with the box. Please let me know your experience with youth groups or other groups.
Thanks for your committment to this project.
Merry Christmas!

Go for it!!

I am sorry that I didn't make the packing party. I was trying to be the brave soldier and right til the time for me to go to the church I was going. It hit me so hard I didn't go to work for the next three days. I heard you did alot and I will do some more with the items I have.

Our lemonade girls are at it again...they are sooooo cute! They got into the Wal-mart in Camden...we need this mother on our team!

If you need posters please let me know....I have lots!
I will be speaking at Shandon Baptist on November 16th. I will be accepting 400-500 shoeboxes on behalf of our team. They are also giving 400 food boxes to the local families to another group.
So I hoping to even inspire more boxes than that day.
Thank you all for all the time you have put in...it will show up now.

E-Blasts!

Hey guys...Did an E-blast about OCC yesterday reminding people that it is coming soon. I now have a speaking part at Platt Springs UMC girl scouts with 7 troops! Yes!! If you have a list for your area...please do some follow-up calling even now.
For those of you that went to Equip and saw the business cards...I ordered some! YEA! They have gifts all wrapped up on one end. It cost me 10.00 for 250 of them. The company is called Vista Print. I think I could get addicted to that site! If you want your own card then please do this. This is the same place for the Big Post cards too!
Let me know what is going on in your area. If anyone can go and support the Nappiers on their Kick-off on Saturday they will welcome you. They are in Aiken! Go team!

Equiped and Ready!

We had a great time at the Equip Conference this weekend! Bravo goes to the Charlotte Team that put it together. The phrase "You have come a long way baby!" comes to mind. Just to give you an idea that 4 yrs ago we had about 50 come to the conference and now we had over 200 this weekend. They even moved it to a church which was beautiful. It was great and we are all ready to start with a great season that starts NOW!!
I was even prouder ( if that is a word) to have 13 team members there to Repersent Midlands Team.
I think they took the GO! From us: I told them a long time ago our team name was the GO team!
So know it came from the Midlands and GO!!!!!
Call me if you need anything!

OCC 2008Off and Running!!!

Off and Running!!! That is the OCC life! We all will be busy with personal stuff but please make some efforts in the next coming weeks to contact those churches that didn't come to the Kick-off.
We had a total of 22 people, but wished for more. I want to make sure our churches are covered with the newest of information. Please make some calls to your contacts if you have not already.
Thanks!

Spelling- Ok guys don't laugh! I am not superwoman (even though I wish I had her figure)! Spelling is not a gift of mine! JUNE!-LOL! You may see words spelled wrong every once in a while. Just know we all are not perfect and you can laugh at me. I don't mind, because I know this is a pitfall of mine.

Please contact Glenn Hammond if you are able to be in the Okra Strut Parade on Sept 27 @ 553-7163.

Community Kick-Off Saturday Sept 6

As you are reading this message my brain is thinking as to ....do I have everything covered for this kick-off. We have two people who will be watching how we do our Kick-off (like we are veterans - ha) in Order to do another in Aiken on Sept 27. also our new Manager will be coming and watching.- My knees are shaking!!!!! Karen is a sweet girl and I hope to get to know her better as the season goes on.

Our guest speaker I have kept a secret up to now... why, I don't know. Her name is Lisa Jones and she is a Area Director from Rock Hill Area. She had the privilege to be invited to go on a distribution to Peru this past Feb. She will share that experience and personal pictures. I have known Lisa now for 2 years and I have traveled with her to our Regional Leaders conference with other leaders, which all their names were LISA. I then had to become Pat-Lisa since i rode with them. God has used our relationships to open many doors for this State! Lisa Jones was our first contact for the Dollar Tree stores and the great impact that made for our area. i think I have about 42 items just for my store in Irmo.

Please be at Friend Church at 9:00am so we can ralley and introduce everyone! Wear your OCC shirt and lets have fun!!
Thanks to all that has taken part in the program. You are the best!
Pat

Christmas is coming...the shoebox is getting fat!

How fat can a shoebox get??
Since going to the Processing center I can honestly say they can get pretty fat!
Let's review:
Things not to put in a shoebox:
1. Liquids- this includes gels, bubbles
2. No guns or war related stuff.
3. No Halloween stuff. Remember sometimes boxes go to places that still practice Voo Doo.
4. No rubber snakes! In some places in the world parents teach kids alll snaaakes are dangerous. And most of the time they are!
5. No food! This means rice, canned spam (even though this will last forever)!
6. Nothing glass - mirrors, porcelin dolls etc.

Great Ideas for Shoeboxes!
1. Soap and washclothes
2. School supplies- all kinds
3. Solid color T-shirts
4. Underware
5. Pencils and pens
There are so many other great ideas out there the list can go on and on!

Make your calls today in your area and contacts about Community Kick-off on Sept 6th.
I do need a few helpers to set up stuff so please let me know if you are coming so that I can give you an assignment. It only happens if you all are willing to help.
Love you all!
Go Team!

Congratulations to Phil Barks

Today is a great day! Phil Barks has been blessed to be promoted to our Regional Director. We have a new Manager for our area. Her name is Karen Bromly. I got to meet her for the first time yesterday and you will just love her! Phil will still be around to help us out so he is not going far. For those of you that know Dedrie (sp) she has been promoted to Sr. Regional Director in charge of Staff training and a lot of admistrative stuff, at least that is how I understand it.

EQUIP CONFERENCE!
Now is the time to let me know if you are going! We have 7 going from the Columbia team.
Sept 13th is the date from 10am- 4pm, Lunch is provided! You can invite a friend, so let me know names so they will have a name tag ready for them.

Contacts and updates!
If you have a new contact please share with us on this blog.
One new contact is Herbert A. Wood Elem School in West Cola. The school is taking on the project as a whole. YEah!!!! 525 kids, Goal is 200 shoeboxes!
Deep Woods Estates, Senior Center, will be doubling their boxes = 50 boxes this year.
Please remind your contacts of the 10% increase this year.
Also offer a speaking opportunity to everyone. If you are not comfortable speaking, its ok...we have people that are and will do a great job. I was not comfortable at first either, but once I spoke a few times it became old hat and I was comfortable. If you want me to come with you that is cool. I will be going with Gloria Jeffers and speaking sometime in Sept. if anyone wants to go with us, just let me know.

Midlands Community Kick-Off
Please put Sept 6th on your calendar at 9:30 for coffee and 10am for our Midlands Area.
We will need to put together a calling tree for everyone to follow-up on our contacts. If you are willing to do this then please let me know and I will give you details to follow-up and we will divide and conquer.
We will have another Community Kick-off in Aiken Co. for our Orangeburg and Edgefield people.
We have picked up 10 churches in Edgefield Co. Yeah!

new ideas?? Share them with the team on this blog!
We would love to have someone handing out brochures in the Chapin parade on Labor Day if you are a walker or whatever. Also the Okra strut is coming up and we still need a leader for this if you are able to work Sept 27 from 10-4pm. We can still get an area, but we need a lead off person. This is my childs first band competition in Irmo and I must be there as I have also taken on the role of Lead Chaperon of Dutch Fork Silver Spirit Marching band. Another passion.
Let me know if you can help.
Thanks for all of your time and let me know what you are doing and talking to.
GO TEAM!!!!
